I was caught off guard when I heard Lauren’s parents singing different vocal parts alongside the choir during worship. Surrounded by the golden ornamentation of the Orthodox church, I felt the deep sense of sacredness in the ceremony. It reminded me of the history books I had read about the Byzantine Empire—I felt like I was the ambassador from Kievan Rus stepped into the Hagia Sophia for the first time. Lauren planned her wedding beautifully. However, there was one challenge beyond her control. The usual route between the church and the venue included a narrow bridge, where cars had to fold their mirrors and pass through slowly. Because of its size, the bus couldn’t take this shortcut and had to be rerouted, adding more than 30 minutes of travel time each way. By the time the ceremony ended and Lauren and Isaiah returned to Washington Crossing Inn, it was already dim and cold, with the ground slightly wet. As a photographer, I felt the pressure of balancing multiple factors—keeping the bridal party comfortable while adapting to the rapidly changing light. I had to carefully plan the timing for both the bridal party and couple portraits, working between my preferred natural light style and the use of strobes. As the light continued to fade, I adjusted my ISO and shutter speed, trying to preserve the ambient atmosphere without letting the background fall into darkness from excessive flash. At the same time, I kept the session centered around Lauren, making sure her dress stayed clean and dry throughout without moving her.
Some weddings feel joyful. Some feel elegant.
Lauren and Isaiah’s wedding felt sacred.
Their day began surrounded by their closest friends, laughter, satin robes, and the sweetest detail, each bridesmaid holding her own pair of shoes while Lauren held her wedding heels in the center. It was such a simple moment, but it perfectly reflected their day: meaningful, intentional, and filled with love from every direction.
St. Vladimir Orthodox Church is breathtaking on its own. The gold iconostasis, the hand painted ceilings, the candlelight, the rich colors that wrap around you the moment you step inside. It creates an atmosphere that feels timeless.
Lauren and Isaiah’s Orthodox ceremony was deeply moving. The crowning, the candles, the prayers chanted through the sanctuary. Every ritual carried centuries of meaning. You could feel how important this moment was, not just to them, but to their families as well.
One of my favorite frames from the day is the view down the aisle as guests stood quietly, watching, witnessing something sacred unfold. Weddings like this remind me that photography is not just about pretty portraits. It is about preserving family history.
When they exited the church, they were greeted with cheers and bubbles floating through the winter air. Lauren held her bouquet in one hand and a cherished icon in the other. It was powerful and joyful all at once.
Their celebration continued at Washington Crossing Inn, where candlelit chandeliers and warm gold tones created the perfect contrast to the crisp winter day outside.
Lauren’s gown from Bridal Suite Boutique was timeless. Structured bodice, delicate detailing, and the most beautiful off the shoulder sleeves that moved effortlessly during their first dance. Isaiah looked sharp in his classic tux from Men’s Wearhouse, and together they carried that perfect blend of elegance and warmth.
Their father daughter dance was filled with emotion, and their first dance felt like something out of a classic film. The entire room gathered close as they moved across the floor beneath sparkling chandeliers.
The cake by Cramer’s Bakery was a showpiece on its own, adorned with soft blue and ivory florals that echoed the romantic winter palette designed by Fiore’s Flowers. Every detail was cohesive and thoughtful.
Encore Entertainment kept the dance floor full all night long. There is something about a wedding where the guests truly celebrate, and this one did not slow down.
Before the evening fully settled in, we stepped outside for a few portraits. Snow still rested along the ground. Lauren wrapped herself in a soft shawl, and her veil caught the light as it lifted gently behind her.
It was peaceful. Just the two of them for a moment after such an emotional day.
Those are the images I love most. The ones where everything slows down and it is simply two people beginning their life together.
Lauren and Isaiah, your wedding was a beautiful reminder of what marriage truly represents. Faith. Family. Commitment. Joy.
Thank you for trusting us to capture it all.
